Benitez predicts Liverpool can over-turn first leg defeat to Lille

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has jumped to his side’s defence following their defeat to French side Lille on Thursday evening.

“I am confident we can beat anyone at Anfield on our day with the fans behind us… We were just not strong enough today but there is still 90 minutes to play.” Said the Manager.

Lille’s Eden Hazard scored a late goal which settled the tie in front of just under 20,000 fans. It was the second game Benitez’s Liverpool have failed to score, following a 1-0 defeat at Wigan on Monday.

Liverpool are now evens to qualify for the next round with Betfair.

Liverpool will play their 3rd game in a row to be screened live on Television when they take on Portsmouth at Anfield on Monday.
