Lady Gaga has helped poker maintain it’s dominance of the gaming industry in terms of the number of searches made on Google.

The singing and dancing superstar had 3 entries in the top 10 poker related search terms for 2009, thanks to hit song “Poker Face”.

The research was compiled by WhichBingo.co.uk using data from by Google Insights.

Although Poker continues to dominate the gambling industry world-wide, in the UK bingo overtook poker to claim the crown of most searched for gambling activity. Casinos continued their rise in popularity during 2009, with instant win games such as Deal Or No Deal and online slots helping boost the number of casino related searches on Google.

Meanwhile supermarket chain Geant Casino in France slipped it’s way into the top 10 casino related search terms.

Betting failed to make an impact in 2009, ranking last of the 4 big gambling terms in all but one region (Australia). The poor performance of betting is thought to be because people are now more likely to search for odds sites or specific events, as illustrated by the spike in traffic for the Grand National in April for the UK.
