Super Bowl: New Orleans Saints (+5.5) to beat Indianapolis Colts

For the Super Bowl I ALWAYS back the underdog (that’ll be the Saints then).

+5.5 for the Saints is very generous. The Colts have a very poor rush defence and I’d expect the likes of Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush to get the ball more often that they usually would. 8/1 on Thomas for first TD isn’t a bad shout either. Stats wise, only four of the last 6 Super Bowls have had a winning margin of less than 5 points.

On paper, the Colts should win but there’s no such thing as a form book here.

Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) to beat New Orleans Saints

New Orleans and Minnesota will go right to the wire, but with New Orleans possessing the greater offence they can overcome the Minnesota and win by 4 points.

Indianapolis Colts (-8) to beat New York Jets

New York Jets have gone as far as they can this year. Indianapolis will be simply too strong.

San Diego Chargers (-7) to beat New York Jets.

San Diego started the season slowly and didn’t look like making the play-offs at one point, let alone being seeded. They really hit form lately and aren’t a wasted bet to go on and win the whole thing. This game will come down to the running backs and LaDainian Tomlinson has the edge over Thomas Jackson.

If that fails, the Chargers also have the better QB in Phillip Rivers. The Jets only just scraped into the play-offs and we think the bookies should be higher than minus 7 handicap.

New Orleans Saints (-7) to beat Arizona Cardinals

New Orleans are the best team in the NFC by some distance. Arizona can score points (see last week) but their defence, whilst being OK, can also desert them (see last week).

It will be in attack where this game is won. Both have good quarterbacks – Brees for Saints and the experienced Warner for Arizona but the difference is what they’ve got to throw at. The Saints have plenty of attacking options across the park and if the defence can shut off Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona will have little to work with.

Arizona Cardinals (Scr) v GB Packers

Arizona did well in last year’s Play-offs and can see off the Green Bay Packers this coming Sunday. Arizona Cardinals were defeated 33-7 last week by the Packers, but they fielded a much weakened side due to the fact they had already progressed to the Play-offs.

Dallas Cowboys -4 v Philadelphia Eagles

Dallas Cowboys have far more strength and depth than the Eagles and will overcome a minus 4 handicap with ease.

New England -7 v Buffalo
