Denman could face as few as 2 opponents in Saturday’s Aon Chase at Newbury. 9 runners were entered for the Grade 2 race, however this number is set to dwindle as race day approaches.

Two of the horses in Saturday’s Aon Chase are more than 60 pounds worse than Denman according to the handicapper. Nacarat, who is within a stone of Denman, has been entered for the race but will only run if the card is unexpectedly abandoned and re-run at Kempton.

Denman goes into Saturday’s race the second-favourite for next month’s Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup.
